The end of the traditional camera?
Nikon has said it plans to stop making most of its traditional film cameras and focus on digital ones instead – a move would enable it to play a stronger role in an "increasingly competitive" digital marketplace. Other firms, such as Eastman Kodak, have also signalled their intention to focus on the digital market.
Nikon will end production of all lenses for its large format cameras, as well as most of its film camera bodies, interchangeable manual focus lenses and other related accessories. It will continue to manufacture the flagship F6 film camera in recognition of "Nikon’s commitment to professional photographers".

I totally agree with Chalacuna without a doubt. Traditional SLR cameras are seriously best for the long-term budget and personal use. The traditional SLR cameras are also the best features and advantages than the digital ones especially for professional use. Please do keep selling them.

I think that it would be a bad move for Nikon to totally phase out the traditional film cameras. Although the digital cameras has taken the lead in photography world, yet there are still hardcore film camera users. And besides, there are still so many features and advantages of a film cameras against the digicams..
