Sony launches VA1 Entertainment PC

Another week, another media centre wanting a place in your home. Like the recent VGX-XL100, this Sony Vaio VA1 all-in-one PC package has no intention of being hidden away in the office. With just one mains plug and a wireless keyboard with built-in touchpad, plus a wireless mouse and remote, you could drop it into any room, especially if you have a wireless network.

The impressive X-black LCD screen screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio, so widescreen movies fill the 20" display area. And the VA1’s hybrid TV tuner lets you watch both analogue and digital (freeview) TV. Inside the VA1 is a 2.8GHz Pentium D 820 processor, with a 128MB ATI Radeon X700 graphics chip, a 250GB hard drive and a double layer DVD±RW that can record up to four hours of DVD-quality TV in one go. And as you’d expect, it’s all held together by Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Centre Edition.

No news on price as yet. We’ll keep you posted.
