aanavigator.jpgThe AA have just released their Navigator Vive! compact touch screen satellite navigation gadget that will provide door-to-door directions plus serve as an MP3 player and photo viewer.

Its £149.99 price includes the latest UK and Ireland maps from Navteq.

It features either full or easy navigation functions. Easy navigation lets you find a destination by either the postcode, point of interest or town name. The points of interest database also includes AAs own database of venues which include restaurants, hotels, pubs, cafés, golf clubs… (what more do you need?)

Instructions are given either in simple schematics, or via 2D/3D maps. There’s a choice of male or female voice for the spoken directions.

AA Navigator Vive! also includes six months free speed camera alerts with information on all six types of camera in use in the UK, presumably for when you’re speeding from the golf course to the pub… Information can be updated from the Net by connecting the device to a PC via USB.

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery gives up to 3 hours navigation time, with in-car charging via the cigarette lighter an option.

It’s available now from the AA Navigator web site, and in the high street early next year. Additional maps will be available on 1GB SD cards. Western Europe for £99, with USA and Canada to follow shortly. There are bundle offers available on the web site.
