1 in 8 men would dump their girlfrend for an iPod

ipod.jpgYes, this is a fairly silly survey conducted on behalf of a company that wants you to use it to buy more gadgets. But still, the fact that one in eight men would apparently consider swapping their partner for the latest iPod, widescreen TV, home cinema system or fridge freezer is pretty shocking. Fridge freezer? Christ.

The survey was conducted by GfK NOP on behalf of price comparison service 60207, and revealed that 13% of men would swap love for gadgets, compared to just 6% of women. Unsurprisingly, the percentages are higher for younger age groups, and lower for older ones (although I bet a few pensioners would swap their other half for a state-of-the-art stairlift).

Those of us who’ve realised that you can buy gadgets AND have sweet, sweet love with another human being SIMULTANEOUSLY will remain baffled at the survey’s very basis.

  • I think a related situation would have an even higher proportion:

“Many more than 1 in 8 men aren’t able to attract a girlfriend in the first place because they spend too much time, money and attention on their computers and tech gadgets.”
