The most high-tech toilet the world has ever seen

pimpeduploo.jpgYou don’t have a dump in it: you ride the personalised porcelain zeitgeist. Possibly. US firm Roto-Rooter has created the ultimate gadget-freak loo, which it calls the ‘Pimped Out John’.

It comes with a 20-inch Philips LCD TV, an Xbox 360 console, a DVD player, a Gateway EMachine laptop with robot arm (don’t even ask how that’s used…), an iPod docking station with its own toilet-paper dispenser, a TiVo DVR, an Avanti refridgerator with beer tap, an exercise bike, and an electric cup warmer. Blimey.

“The bathroom is the perfect place for your very own throne. It shouldn’t always be regarded as the room of last resort,” says Steven Pollyea, Roto-Rooter’s VP of marketing. “We hope that with the ‘Pimped out John,’ young people especially will have a good laugh and think of Roto-Rooter when they need high quality plumbing and drain service.”

That’s right. It’s all in aid of persuading people to pay Roto-Rooter to flush out their pipes. And the company is giving the toilet away in an online sweepstake (presumably this is for US people only mind). Still, it’s given me a few ideas for when I next remodel the bathroom…
