ti.jpgTexas Instruments, leaders in video projection technology, are developing a DLP (Digital Light Projection) ‘pico-projectors’ prototype that is small enough to fit on your fingertips, and could eventually be used in portable devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and music players, to allow images to be projected just as full-size video projectors do now.

This miniaturisation of projection technology will provide consumers and professionals with more options for displaying video. Imagine your video iPod or mobile phone being able to project a large image onto a wall without the need to plug it in to any other equipment.

Many leading manufacturers already use Texas Instruments’ DLP technology, including Samsung, Mitsubishi, and Toshiba. Though it’s just a prototype at present, due to be demonstrated at CTIA 2007, it could lead to some pretty exciting, if expensive, mobile products in the future.
