Earlier, I was complaining about robots who just sit around and play video games. I didn’t know when I was well off. Robots in Osaka, Japan are now touting sex clubs. Osaka law, banned touts from soliciting on the street, so, the touts got around the law by holding signs that said “ask me”. Then they were forbidden to do that. So, one adult information center bought a robot that originally directed traffic around construction sites and gave him a 500,000 yen upgrade that included a new hairdo and a yellow “ask me” banner that he raises and lowers. Aren’t they still breaking the law? Says a spokesman: “It’s a robot, so no problem.” Yum. [GT]
