Google offers Feedburner's premium services for free

We reported a few back that Google had acquired feed specialists Feedburner. Well, now they’re actually doing something with it – giving it away for free.

According to the Feedburner blog, two of FeedBurner’s previously paid-for services, TotalStats and MyBrand, will be free. You need to physically activate the services for your feed, but when you do, no-one will come knocking at your door with a bill. FeedBurner Stats PRO offers access to the number of people who have viewed or clicked individual content items in your feed and ‘Reach’, which estimates the daily number of subscribers who interacted with your feed content.

The MyBrand service lets you maintain consistency between your feed address and your hosted website’s domain, so you don’t see the ‘Feedburner’ in the url essentially. It requires a bit of DNS tinkering, but should make you look a little more corporate.
