GTA5 on PS4, Xbox One and PC – further details clarified
One of the most welcome developments overnight was during the Sony press conference, when it was announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 was coming to the PS4. Rockstar has since issued a press releasing offering a few more details, and clarifying a few points.
First of all, the good news. Though featured during Sony’s presentation, it has been confirmed that the game will also be landing on Xbox One and PC – with all three versions due to hit in the autumn.
There will be, as expected a number of upgrades to the visuals: improved draw distances, finer textures, denser traffic and “enhanced resolutions” (though no confirmation of exactly what resolution). Check out the trailer above – it looks astonishing.
The really good news for GTA Online players is that it’ll be possible to transfer your data to the newer consoles – so those hundreds of hours spent levelling up in Los Santos weren’t wasted (I mean, in this context – in the grand plan of things… isn’t everything futile?). It’ll even work across platforms – meaning Xbox 360 players will be able to transfer to PS4, and PS3 players to Xbox One.
The way this will presumably work is by using your Rockstar account – which you’ll already have if you’ve played online.
The PC edition will apparently also feature an “advanced video editor”, which should make the already booming GTA stunts community even happier.
