European Commission: PEGI needs to up its game
Along with most other games ratings systems, the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) has come under increasing scrutiny in the past few months. The European Commission is the latest weigh in, calling for the system to be strengthened to protect children from harm.
The EC carried out a survey and was shocked to discover that different nations use different means of enforcing games ratings. Incredible really. All these people packed into less than 2 million square miles and it turns out that they not all following the same rules on games ratings.
In fact, some have absolutely no rules at all. It’s a miracle anarchy hasn’t broken out yet. The commission has called for a code of conduct to be drawn up so that European retailers are aware of their responsibilities.
