Virgin Media CEO attacks net neutrality – wants content providers to pay or face slow delivery

berkett.jpgWe pay for internet access, but if Virgin Media has its way, we could have access to our favourite sites hindered because they will not pay.

In an interview with the Royal Television Society’s Television magazine, Virgin Media CEO Neil Berkett said that “this net neutrality thing is a load of b****cks”, and admitted that Virgin is already in talks with some content providers about paying to have their content delivered faster than others.

So if the BBC doesn’t pay a premium, your chances of watching last week’s Apprentice will be severely hindered. Unless you change your ISP that is. Whether that policy will get past OFCOM is still open to question though.
