Handlink coin-op Wi-Fi base-station
There’s something very amusingly central London about a coin-operated WiFi meter and you’ve got to admit that the Handlink point has got charm. Chuck in your coppers, out comes a code on a ticket for temporary Wi-Fi access on whatever device you have and you’re online.
What isn’t so charming, of course, is when you run out of credit midway through uploading something very important.
When you think about it though, the Handlink is no different to an internet cafe apart from the annoying kids and the bloke behind the counter more interested in unlocking stolen mobile phones and charging you 20p per sheet for accidentally printed pages.
Obviously, it’s intended for hotels and such but exactly how long is it before all this kind of access is included in your bill, whether you used it or not? Don’t expect to see the Handlink about much and certainly not for too long.
