windows-mobile-music-store-probbaly-on-the-way.pngMicrosoft is clearly a bit jealous of how well the iPhone/iTunes/iPod trinity is raking in cash for the Apple machine, so is keen to try and boost the amount of music services available “on the go” to users of Windows Mobile phones.

“One thing that Apple has leveraged on is the music scenario, and I think that that is something the operators and ourselves are partnering on, just to make sure that consumers can use live music in the best way,” Andy Lees, senior vice president of Microsoft’s Mobile Communications Business said, in typical Microsoft marketing-speak fashion.

What we think that media-savvy nonsense means is expect ‘mTunes’ to launch soon on Windows Mobile. Or maybe MS will just throw a few million at a fancy TV advert with U2 or Coldplay poncing about with WinMo phones. Or perhaps it’ll buy Nokia’s Music Store. Or come out with something a bit better-suited to a pocket-player than Windows Bloody Media Player.
