O2 leaks iPhone 3G PAYG pricing, £300 for 8GB iPhone
This morning, O2 (seemingly) inadvertently published pricing for the Pay-As-You-Go iPhone 3G, then quickly retracted it.
Eagle-eyed sites gleaned that the 8GB iPhone 3G will cost £299.99, while the 16GB model will cost £359.99. Included with that is six months of Wi-Fi and unlimited Internet access, after which users would need to top up a minimum of £10 per month to keep the Internet access active.
Is this a good deal? Well, if for some reason you can’t get a contract with O2, or simply don’t want one, it’s not bad if you don’t mind stumping up the cash in advance. You’re effectively paying a £200 premium over the price of the iPhone 3G on O2’s lower end plans, and of course you’ll be paying for all texts and calls as you make them.
As the information has been pulled, there’s no guarantee these are the final prices, and there may well be other conditions or restrictions. Internet access is arguably the iPhone’s most wanted feature, so customers will want to ensure they don’t lose out on that. A tenner a month for all-you-can-eat 3G / Wi-Fi web access is pretty good.
