Hauppauge goes streaming
And here comes another streaming device. We saw it at IFA but didn’t get round to writing about it. Still here it is as it is coming to the UK later this month.
It is the Hauppauge Network Media Decoder which uses a wired Ethernet connection to transfer MP3 audio, photos and video files from a PC to a TV.
Among the file formats it supports are MPEG-1/MPEG-2 videos, JPEG and GIF digital pictures, and MP3 music.
It is relatively cheap too at around £100. And if you don’t fancy running a cable from your study to the living room it will work wirelessly with a wireless bridge.
A/V connection options include S-video, composite video and RGB, plus stereo audio output. The MediaMVP is compatible with any PC running Windows XP or XP Professional.
Hauppauge will have a whole series of these devices on sale before long including an 802.11g wireless version that will stream video.
