I-Clef's MP3 Jukebox
Share
There is yet another alternative to the iPod in the MP3 hard disk personal audio market. This time it is the X-Clef which is available via website www.firebox.com.
The good
20Gigabytes of storage
Playback of both MP3 and WMA files
Integrated FM tuner (rare for a hard disk audio player)
USB 2.0 connector
Battery life of 12 hours – more than most of its rivals
Mac and Linux, as well as Windows compatibility
Best of all though is its price. At £229 it undercuts all other 20Gig players with the exception of the Ministry of Sound MOSMP028 which retails for £200.
The bad
Inevitably it is bigger and not as sexy as the iPod or the Philips HDD100. It is more stylish though than some of its other rivals.

This sounds suspiciously like Jimmy Buffet, that eminent philosopher of the dolce vita on the Redneck Riviera. Well, hell, we don’t care: make the man a daquiri, Agnes!

Hi! I’ve really enjoyed your site and will be back.
ipod is the best, mp3 player available.
it has the ultimate style and good sound quality. its not only made by the big manufactures Apple but also has its own software program..now the x clef has good sound quality but the shear size is phemonmeal and is an overall £300 brick.
verdict ipod is better!

Sorry to nitpick, but think the first HD jukebox with FM was actually MPIO’s HD100 – launched in the UK several months back.
