LG goes wireless
Over in Korea LG has been parading the products it intends to launch in the coming year.
Due in spring is a DVD-based surround sound system the XD-D6535 that features a pair of wireless rear speakers. Apparently the system transmits the surround signals digitally to the speakers over the 2.4Ghz frequency, yet doesn’t use either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. It will retail for a very competitive £279.
Due much later in the year is the company’s first TV to feature an integrated hard disk based video recorder. The RV-525230 is a 52inch LCD based rear projection set that also features a digital terrestrial (Freeview) decoder. Its 80Gigabyte hard disk will enable viewers to pause live TV and also record programmes in advance via its on screen electronic programming guide.
LG wouldn’t say whether the set would feature one or two tuners, or how much it would retail for. We expect it to sell for around £2200.
