Navman's portable GPS
For those who have difficulty finding the end of their drive without getting lost, GPS systems are a great idea. Two main types are available: in-car units and portable models that can be moved from motor to motor. Costing around £999, the newly launched Navman iCN630 is the latter type. Featuring a 3.8inch screen, it can be mounted either on a car’s windscreen or dashboard.
Onboard is a colour 3D Map view and – for the first time – a five digit postcode search which can calculate your destination’s address more quickly. Other features include street level maps for 15 countries on CD-Rom, complete with places of interest (shops, cinemas, hotels, even petrol stations). There’s also an avoid area feature so you can avoid being directed through areas where you know there is congestion.
