Canon and Toshiba's new company
Canon and Toshiba have joined in blissful union to bring you some next-generation flat screen SED panels. And what are these? They’re Surface-conduction Electron-emitter displays. Still none the wiser? Apparently they’re a new type of flat panel based on technologies with long names, such as mîcrofabrication, electron-emission, semiconductors and cathode-ray-tubes. What this actually means is that you get a very bright screen with high definition, fast video-response performance, high contrast, high gradation levels and low power consumption.
The new joint company is to be called SED Inc. and will be officially established in October this year, based in Japan. It will begin production in 2005, with a mass-production factory ready and waiting to increase the production volume.
