60GB Apple "PhotoPod" coming soon?
“Highly reliable” sources are being credited for the news that Apple is currently working on a 60GB iPod. According to the rumours, the new iPod will be more PDA-like than its predecessors, with a 2-inch colour display and iPhoto synchronisation capabilities. The photo-viewing will apparently be one of the main selling points of the new hard drive – along with the 60GB capacity of course. The 60GB aspect of the rumour certainly seems highly likely, since Toshiba has recently announced its 1.8-inch 60GB hard disk drive and the two companies have always worked together on the iPods.
Apple has long denied that it was going to produce a PDA or anything like it, and the colour screen has also been seen as something that Apple would leave to its competitors. However, if the rumours are to be believed then Apple has obviously decided that it’s going to lose out if it doesn’t respond to demands for colour. The sources for the story have said that the price of the new player will be a hefty $499.
