Nikon’s launched a brace of 8-megapixel cameras targeted towards serious, semi-professional photographers. The Coolpix 8800 is available for around £700, while the Coolpix 8400 can be had for £650. The 8800 features a Nikkor ED lens with a 10x optical zoom. It’s the first Coolpix to incorporate a Vibration Reduction technology that automatically detects and compensates for camera wobbles that cause blurring. The 8400, meanwhile, comes with a wide-angle zoom lens (24-85mm) and an autofocus system. It will also allow macro shooting as close as 3cm away, and a video capture feature that shoots 30 frames per second.
