Tosh's laptop with a twist
Now here’s an interesting twist on the design of laptops. At the CeBIT exhibition in Hanover last week Toshiba unveiled an innovative laptop PC that features a LCD monitor that you can pull away from its keyboard. This magically transforms it into a fully functioning tablet PC.
Sounds like clever stuff, but Tosh is adamant that it’s only a prototype and that it has plenty of issues to resolve first. The key one being battery life which, probably because the 12.1 inch XGA TFT LCD communicates with its base station using 802.11b wireless technology, is only around an hour.
Tosh also hopes to reduce the width of the screen and bring down the weight of the device.
Hopefully we’ll see PCs like this commercially available with around three years.
