Hitachi's 20GB mîcrodrive on its way

Good news! It looks like Hitachi has found a way of packing even more info onto a hard drive, says The Register. You will now be able to pack 4.5GB of info onto each square centimetre of your hard drive, instead of the paltry 2.9GB you were used to. In practical terms this means that this technology, due for rolling out in 2007, will let you pack 20GB of data onto a 2.5cm hard drive. A larger 8.9cm drive will be capable of holding a terabyte of data.
