Xmas target for BT's hybrid handset

Although we are still eagerly anticipating the Bluephone that was hyped for imminent release a couple of weeks back, BT has just announced another hybrid device set to be ready by Christmas. This new roamable system will rely on Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth to make landline calls although will automatically switch to GSM if you wander out of the hotspot. At a Wireless LAN event, BT’s chief executive for wireless broadband, Chris Clark promised "We’ll have a seamless roaming GSM/Wi-Fi phone by the end of the year" and also hinted that the Bluephone might actually emerge around June.
