JVC's debut MP3 player
Better late than never. JVC is having its first crack at the digital audio personal market by releasing the XA-A50, an MP3/WMA (Windows Media Audio) player integrated into a set of headphones.
The cans boast a pretty decent spec including compatibility with MP3s and WMAs (including copyright protected tracks you download) a USB 1.1 connector, various sound mode options and up to 20 hours of playback from one AAA Alkaline battery.
They also feature a Voice Guidance, which alas doesn’t allow you to shout ‘play me a Belle and Sebastian early B side’ at it, rather when you activate the controls that are sited on the right of the phones you then hear a voice message confirming their action.
The only downer is pretty poor storage of 128MB. Still they only sell for between £80-100.
