Samsung's MP3 players land in UK
Three shiny new players are to expand the Samsung personal audio range and they’ve already caused a stir at CES 2005.
First there is the £249 H-925 an Audio/Photo player with 20GB of storage on its internal 1.8″ HDD. The device is compatible with MP3, WMA and Ogg as well as Secure WMA and Janus DRM. Pictures can be viewed on the 260K colour display and it comes with a carry case, rechargeable Li-Poly Battery and earphones.
The YH-820 is a streamlined device that could easily be mistaken for a flash MP3 player but still manages to sport a 5GB hard disk drive. It has dimensions of 50 x 88.3 x 14mm, boasts a 1.6″ LCD colour display capable of displaying photographs in 128×96 pixels and is compatible with MP3, WMA, Secure WMA, Ogg, and JPEG file formats. Connectivity is handled by USB 2.0 for file transfer to the internal HDD (though sadly there isn’t a ‘drag-and-drop’ interface). The YH-820 mîcro HDD Jukebox & Photo Album is priced at £169.
The YP-T7 is an compact device; at just 37.3 x 62.5 x 14.7mm yet it displays JPEG pictures on its 65K Colour LCD screen. Audio play back includes support for MP3, WMA Secure WMA, Ogg and ASF files. The rechargeable Li-Poly battery is capable of a reasonable 12 hours of playback.
The 512MB version is set to cost £129.99 and the 1GB version will set you back £159.99. Each also comes with a selection of accessories such as carry-case, earphones, USB adapter and in-line encoding cable.
