Advert free DVD recording
The Hitachi DV-DS81E has a unique feature that will mean there is even less to coax an unwanted muscle movement whilst watching telly. Through some form of technical wizardry the recorder marks the points at which it detects the beginning of adverts (presumably it just recognises the theme from Jean De Florette) and on playback it will automatically skip at the mark. If only someone could fit that system into Sky Plus, it would probably bring the whole satellite TV industry to its knees. This clever feature aside the DV-DS81E is a decent DVD recorder which sports a Super Multi Drive, compatible with every conceivable DVD format and allows up to 100 hours recording time. It will be available from around August, but there is no word on price yet.
