According to a report in the Independent on Sunday, and reported on The Register today, NTL and Telewest are just weeks away from merging. The paper says that the £6.8 billion deal will be finalised at the end of July, creating a cable company with annual revenues of around £3.3 billion and five million customers. At last a serious rival to Sky in the pay TV market.
