Podcasting goes off the pod, onto the phone
Mobile phone company Melodeo, who normally deal in software that allows you to listen to music on your mobile has just made an announcement that it will offer a program that lets you select and download podcasts to your mobile phone. Podcasts, for those in the dark, are radio-style shows that you can download and listen to on your media player. The program, dubbed ‘Mobilcast’ will let you browse podcasts and let you download them direct to your phone for free (not including airtime charges of course), without messing around with that whole PC and digital player nonsense. Good news of supporters of Podcasting: looks like radio might be making a comeback, on a mobile near you, soon. The software is currently scheduled for a late September release.
