All the plasma, half the power
Share
One of the main problems with current plasma screens is the sheer amount of electricity required to run them. Televisions are often cited as a major factor in the vast amount of wasted energy that drain the earth’s resources, so it is good news then that a joint project between Matsushita Electric Industrial Co, Hitachi Ltd and Pioneer Corp has yielded technology that can cut the power consumption of plasma screens in half. This will also put plasma technology as a closer rival to the popular LCD alternative. The prototype panel is being shown of in Tokyo now but unfortunately its commercial release won’t happen for another couple of years at least.
