CES 2006: Dell's 20inch notebook
Here’s a first glimpse of a new notebook computer from Dell. Currently dubbed the XPS mobile concept (though the name will change) the machine is a radical departure for the US computer company. Firstly it’s a slimline PC that looks really good. Secondly it’s a 20inch product – way bigger than most laptops which have a maximum 17inch display. Obviously this means it’s not great for taking on planes, but for use around the house and occasional portable use, it’s certainly an interesting product.
Available either with Microsoft XP or Media Center operating systems, it comes with a 12 card memory reader, 8 integrated speakers and a sturdy carrying handle which is attached to the casing. It’s expected to launch in the US in the spring for $3000 but will probably come to Europe later in the year.
