Contents of your hard disk – in colour

The hard disk – a small (and getting smaller) metal box in your computer. It breaks and you lose everything, unless you’re one of those "clued up" people who backs up regularly. But have you ever wondered your hard drive is currently made up of?
Over at Propellerhead, they’ve discovered a new tool called WinDirStat (Windows Directory Statistic) that hsows you exactly what’s there in glorious technicolour. Files and folders are colour coded according to type, which makes them really easy to identify and the program features a number of simple disk management utilities to clean up some of the junk that’s lurking on it.

WinDirStat looks cool but there are several other tools that are as good, or better:
– ExplorerXP
– SpaceMonger
