IE7 beta has security bug

We told you yesterday that a beta version of Microsoft’s IE7 browser was available to download for testing purposes. Well, it seems those tests have unearthed a security vulnerability already.

The security hole creates a means for a hacker to crash the software and potentially execute malicious code, according to security researcher Tom Ferris. Microsoft claims it knows of the flaw, but that it isn’t a danger. They also claim to be working on a fix for it in time for the full release.

Other issues have also been noted, including software incompatability and crashes when visiting certain websites. So, unless you want to conduct some specific testing of the browser, it’s perhaps advisable to wait for the finished product or give the excellent Firefox browser a try.
