You do feel that the clock’s ticking on portable DVD players, with downloads and more compacts likely to force them out in the fairly near future. But there’s still life in the market now and prices are low for fairly compact players, like this Omisys PT-711 multimedia MPEG4 DVD player.
The Omisys PT-711 offers playback via DVD, MPEG4 and CD format on the 7-inch 16:9 TFT screen, you can also browse your photos (JPEG format) on a bigger screen than your digital camera too via the USB connector. And it’s an MP3 player too with the flick of a switch.
As well as USB, there’s also compatability with the usual storage cards and a remote control – though why you’d need one of those when there’s just a 7-inch screen is beyond me. Battery life is around 3 hours.
