Google to launch Google Health
For many, a visit to the doctor is too much like hard work – advice (of varying levels of accuracy) is often available via a Google search. So it’s no surprise to hear that the search giant is going to set up a dedicated health information service.
Google Health will offer targeted search for anyone who thinks they might be suffering from some kind of ailment. Search can be refined and results put into categories, including "treatment, research papers, symptoms, news, alternative treatments". It also divides up information according to an expected audience – material for health professionals rather than patients for example.
The service is expected to launch later this week – we’ll keep you posted. Though if you are worried about your health, it’s really no substitute for a visit to your GP.
