Boy band star turned crooner turned celebrity footballer Robbie Williams is Sky’s latest weapon in its battle to dominate the HD market. The company has announced that it has done a deal to broadcast, live to air and in high definition, Robbie Williams’ concert in Leeds on September 9th 2006

The concert will be the first live broadcast from the UK in HD on Sky One HD. Robbie, ever the salesman, commented: "It’s great to be working with Sky. I’ve seen High Definition television and it looks great. It will capture the atmosphere of the concert in ways that a traditional broadcast couldn’t."

Fans will be able to see a sweating Robbie up close and personal in glorious high definition, as well as hearing the hits in Dolby 5.1 surround sound. However, if you like the idea of that, you might want to get your skates on, judging by some of the recent comments over on HDTV UK.
