Add ISO Burning and Disc Copying To XP

The CD and DVD burning facilities in Windows XP are quite basic but here’s a tip from  Propellerhead that’s beefs them up a bit by adding an ISO image file and disc copying facility. By the way, an ISO file is a collection of all of the files or the ‘image’ of all the files on a CD or DVD.

ISO Recorder was originally developed as a PowerToy by Microsoft during the Windows XP beta testing program but was dropped. Now it’s been revived, and improved and what’s more it’s compatible with Windows Vista.

ISO Recorder is a Shell Extension so there’s no program to launch, simply right-click on an image file with the extension *.iso and select ‘Copy Image to CD’ from the drop-down menu. To copy a disc just click on the CD or DVD icon in Windows Explorer and choose Create image from CD, it’s that simple! For hundred more Windows tips and tweaks visit the archive at PCTopTips
