Sandisk announces 8GB e200 portable media player
As we anticipated yesterday, Sandisk has launched a new 8GB version of its e200 portable media player.
It’s a direct challenger to the nano, coming in at around the size physically, but now featuring 8GB of memory, with a microSD slot to boost storage further. So that’s double the nano storage, but at the same price as a 4GB nano. All that could change, if, as rumour has it, Apple introduces a new nano before Christmas. Along with playing a range of audio formats, the e200 also has something else on the nano – it can play photos and videos on its 1.8-inch screen, courtesy of the Sansa Media Converter. And there’s also an FM tuner, radio recorder and a voice recorder.
The Sansa e280 should retail for around $250 in the US, with other devices in the Sandisk range taking a price drop – you can now pick up the 2GB version for under $140. UK pricing and availability to follow.
