Systemax launches Impact range of Mini PCs

Mini by name and very much Mini in looks – yes, another PC take on Apple’s Mac Mini, this time from US manufacturer Systemax, which has launched the Impact range of Mini PCs.

These living room-friendly PCs feature a black aluminium finish, glowing blue lights, remote control and a small footprint of just 6.5 inches square by 2.0 inches tall. Three models are available, the top of the range being the Impact VXR2, which features an Intel T5500 1.66GHz 667FSB 2M Core 2 processor, 1024MB memory, 80GB hard drive, a digital TV tuner, rewriteable DVD drive, Wi-Fi, Windows Media Center and a wide range of connectivity for $899.99.

Next in the line is the VXR with Intel T2050 1.6GHz 533FSB 2M Duo mobile processor, 512MB memory, 80GB drive, digital TV, writeable DVD drive, Wi-Fi and Windows Media. Available for $799.99. The entry-level model is the Impact2 with an Intel Celeron M 1.4GHz 400FSB processor, 256MB memory, 40GB drive, CDRW/DVD combo drive and Wi-Fi. It’s priced at $499.99.

All will be on sale in the US from October 1st. No word on a European launch.
