Garmin has launched a widescreen satellite navigation system with Bluetooth and an MP3 player – the nüvi 660.

Building on its existing 300 series, the Garmin nüvi 660 features a large, 4.3-inch touch screen with super bright display. As you’d expect, there’s all the directional functionality, along with automatic re-routing if you stray off course. Maps for the whole of Europe are pre-loaded, along with an extensive points of interest database. In addition, the 660 is also pre-loaded with speed camera information, updated daily with the locations of fixed and mobile cameras.

And that’s not all – there’s also an integrated traffic receiver for avoiding congestion, with updates free when you purchase the unit. There’s also MP3 playback, an audio book player and picture viewer, with optional packages of travel guides and restaurant reviews to browse on screen. And there’s a Bluetooth option to make and receive hands-free calls. You can also dial numbers through the touch screen and answer calls with a tap of your screen.

The nüvi 660 will be exclusively available in the UK from Halfords in the coming weeks, with other UK outlets to follow next year. Price to be confirmed.
