Pure has introduced a new Élan model – the DX40 – a budget portable DAB, hoping to emulate the original Élan, which was once the best seller on the market.

There are some new features in the DX40, including textSCAN, which allows you to pause and scroll DAB text (if you need to jot down a song title), along with Intellitext messages, which means you can view information such as news headlines, sports results and favourite track listings at your convenience, even when in standby mode.

The new model is also ChargePAK ready – charging whilst plugged into the mains, so you can go portable when you like. Add to that, 16 presets (DAB or FM), clock, sleep timer, alarmsm RDS support and USB upgradeability and it’s worth a look at the £70 price tag.

The DX40 should be available to buy later this month.
