It’s about damn time the Books on Demand Machine has actually come to pass, and at only $50,000 USD per unit, we can expect to see them pretty much everywhere. They can print books of up to 550 pages, you choose the font size yourself (so if you wanted a very tiny Anna Karenina you could; also, if, like me, you’re ticked off about the demise of the true pocket-size book, you can actually get fresh clean white ones) and it chunks out two books in under seven minutes. I’ve got my list of Project Gutenberg tomes in my back pocket and I’m out the door. [GT]
