Intel will join the ever-growing number of companies selling movie downloads from Monday, offering films on the same day as their UK release.

It’s a joint effort with digital download firm, Coolroom.com, with the films initially being Universal titles and only available to download and playback on Intel Viiv-enabled Windows Media Center PCs, using a form of DRM protection. Once purchased, downloads are owned by individuals and can be saved and copied to both the hard drive of the PC and onto portable media devices.

The first selection of titles consists of Miami Vice, The Break Up and You, Me and Dupree. And despite a lack of a hard copy, they’re not that cheap either – £8.99 per download. Music tracks will also be available, priced at 99p.
