Aztech intro WL830RT4 wireless broadband router that covers multiple floors
Aztech have released their WL830RT4 Wireless G Broadband Router that claims to be an all-in-one solution for users who live or work in large homes or offices spanning wide areas and on multiple levels.
It has an eXtended Range feature that is supposed to boost the network range by up to 3 times that of standard 802.11b/g equipment. It can process weak signals through walls, thus offering much more stable connectivity.
The hub is a 4-port full duplex 10/100Mbps switch that can be used for both wired and wireless networking, extendable by adding more hubs and switches. It also has robust security features (64/128/152-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2, WPA-PSK/WPA-PSK2, TKIP, and AES encryption) to help you lock down your wireless network from unauthorised use.
The extended range is possible regardless of what wireless adapter each computer uses, according to the press release.
We’ve featured similar products before, such as the Linksys WRV200 with RangeBooster that claims a 2x improvement in range and 35% increase in throughput.
This is a Singaporean product, so no news on whether it will be available in the UK, and at what price (at current exchange rate would be just over £30). An extended range wi-fi router would certainly be a welcome addition to many, though of course it could make it attractive to bandwidth leechers from a wider area.
