CES 2007: Recycled circuit-board bookmark

green-bookmark.jpgCES proper doesn’t start until Monday morning, but the weekend is seeing a bunch of advance media previews and press conferences. We’re safely cocooned in the press centre, which has loads of laptops all running Windows Vista. Crumbs. Nothing’s crashed yet, mind crosses fingers

But onto the serious stuff. The Consumer Electronics Association is going big on ‘green electronics’ this year, and is launching a website called myGreenElectronics.org this week. Its aim is to educate consumers on responsible use, reuse and recycling of gadgets, including providing searchable lists of recyclers and eco-friendly gadgets.

By way of showing how this can work, there’s a press pack with a bookmark inside that’s been made out of circuit boards scavenged from old and/or broken PCs – the idea being to stop landfills filling up with this kind of stuff. It’s quite nifty, although it’d be even better if you could play Football Manager on it…
