We gave you a first glimpse of the Sandisk Sansa View at the weekend, but after the official unveiling, we can reveal it in all its glory.

The Sandisk Sansa View is the company’s first widescreen portable media player, sized at 78.5mm x 123mm x 16.9mm and with a 4-inch display and integrated speaker. It can play video, music or display photos – or combine the latter two as a slideshow. It comes with 8GB of internal flash memory – enough for up to 33 hours of video, 2,000 songs or thousands of photos, which can be boosted further by SD or SDHC cards.

It works alongside Windows Media Player for syncing and will work fine with Vista. It’s also good with “most” download and subscription services. The removable Li-Polymer battery offers up to four hours of continuous video playback and 10 hours of continuous audio playback. And to get you going, it comes with pre-loaded content across all media types.

It’s appearing in the US first, followed by Europe around the middle of 2007. It retails in the US for $299 (around £155).
