Konica Minolta Europe have introduced its magicolor 5500 series range of printers, able to print monochrome pages at up to 35ppm and colour prints at 30ppm, plus banner printing up to 216mm x 1200mm.

It features 3-object segmentation and new ASIC technology, meaning it can differentiate between text, graphics, and images, giving it the ability to maximise toner efficiency. In addition, selecting economy more will save 50% on toner without compromising the quality of business documents.

Simitri™ HD is Konica’s next generation of polymerised toner, and offers a print quality and durability that rivals offset printing. It also delivers accurate colour gradients and resistance to UV light. It can also operate at a lower temperature, saving energy and reducing paper jams.

It features Emperon 4 technology allowing compatibility with major printing languages including PostScript 3, plus direct printing of PDF and JPEG/TIFF image files from a USB memory stick.

The two models available are the magicolor 5570 and 5550. The 5570 comes with a PowerPC 887MHz processor and 256MB RAM, and costs £999 excluding VAT. The 5550 prints 25.6ppm in colour and 30ppm in monochrome, has a PowerPC 755MHz processor and 256MB RAM, and costs £799 excluding VAT.
