No details on how precisely it works, but the astounding news from the Daily Mail is on a waterwheel that needs only an 18 inch fall of water to generate enough power to run an entire house. Developed by Ian Gilmartin, 60, and his friend Bob Cattley, 58, both from Kendal, Cumbria, the mini-waterwheel will cost about £2000 to install, but who wouldn’t pay that to never need mains power again? While you may not have running water on your property, theoretically the device could be fitted to your water pipes and take advantage of your existing water usage. [GT]
