Control 4's remote-controlled home
Automating your entire home isn’t something for the future – it’s here now, all controllable by a small flat-panel screen by NGN Digital.
The system is called Control 4 and it allows you to control your lights, music, home theatre, temperature and security systems, amongst other things, at the touch of a button. You can add almost anything (within reason) to the system. And you can programme it for added security. For example, you can time the system to open and shut the curtains and turn your lights on and off when you’re away, creating the impression that someone is still at home.
How much this all costs isn’t clear. According to Danny Dawson, Director of NGN Digital: “Many have the perception that it is a luxury only affordable to footballers or A-list celebrities. Times are changing and companies such as ourselves have recognised the importance of new technology being accessible to the average person by providing the technology at an affordable cost.”
That still doesn’t offer us a guide price. But if you are interested in seeing it first hand and pinning them down on cost, you can see the system in action at the NGN Digital showroom in York.
