Game opens up pre-orders for PS3 while Play.com guarantees day one delivery
Retailers are jostling for your trade in the PS3 pre-order lottery. Game is the latest company to start taking orders, while Play.com guarantees you a day one delivery if you sign up with them.
Game is going down the bundle route – £554.96 for a console with Resistance: Fall of Man, Call of Duty 3 and Motorstorm or £564.96 if your games are Resistance: Fall of Man, Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtua Tennis 3. It claims to be “your best chance of getting a PS3”. Play.com might disagree.
It’s guaranteeing a PS3 for all pre-orders: “We have been working hard with Sony to make sure that we can deliver every pre-order on the release date,” said Play’s head of games Gian Luzio. However, once more it is doing the bundle – this time with MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji for £525.
Amazon has yet to start taking orders, but my top tip is to get with Argos. The company is doing a console-only deal for £424.99 and only doing pre-orders for its stock allocation. Then you can choose the games you buy, rather than being stuck with unwanted titles bought at a premium price.
